Trnka’s Standout Week In Tahoe Earns Him POTW
For the second time this season an Ontario Jr Reign goalkeeper has earned the USPHL Premier West Region Player Of The Week award, this time it was OJR rookie Matus Trnka. In his two starts last weekend against the Lake Tahoe Lakers, he blanked the Lakers in a 25 save performance and followed it up with a 35 save showing the next day. In total he put up a .984 save percentage and allowed one goal over his two starts.

Trnka has been somewhat of a boogeyman for the Lakers this season. He seems to play his best hockey against them, and has the 4-1 record against them to prove it. After a tough start to the season, he has allowed two goals over the last 206 minutes he has been on the ice against Lake Tahoe, including two shutout victories. Trnka’s two shutouts come against a good Laker offense who as of last weekend averaged three and a half goals a game, and it has been the only two times this season that Lake Tahoe has been held scoreless.
The Jr Reign goalies will need to bring their A game as they welcome one of the Pacific's top offense to Ontario Center Ice Arena.
