"As a Business and Hockey Operations Intern, I was fortunate to be involved in a variety of aspects of the Ontario Jr. Reign hockey organization. I had the opportunity to work with several members of the Jr. Reign’s excellent leadership team, including General Manager and Head Coach, Chief Marketing Officer, Director of Operations, and other coaching staff during the internship. General Manager and Head Coach Jeremy Blumes was particularly helpful throughout my internship process, who mentored me within the hockey and management space and pushed me to excel by learning something new every day. My role in business operations allowed me to assist the organization in developing positive relationships with fans, clients, and community members. Planning ways to improve community and in-game promotions, identifying potential sponsors, and reaching out to local nonprofits and local community organizations for the Reign to partner with diversified my professional experience. My work within hockey operations was a great experience as well. I had the opportunity to use Instat to analyze players and teams, which was later used for player and strategy development. As a lifelong learner, this process allowed me to continue to grow my knowledge of hockey and analytics, as well as contribute and have a positive impact to help the team find success. My time assessing future talent, communicating with prospective players and their coaches, and conversing with agents and scouts allowed me to further apply and develop my hockey knowledge from a management perspective. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to intern with the Ontario Jr. Reign, and I am appreciative of the support I received from all of the staff. I know the skills, knowledge, and connections I developed during my time with the organization will help me excel as I finish my MBA program and move forward with my career.”
